5 Must Have Qualities of Every Leader!

BONUS: Special Preview Sample Below!

Hey Everyone! Can you believe it's almost Thanksgiving?! I can't believe how fast the time is going these days.

Some of you know, and some may not, that I just underwent a full hip replacement. Recovery hasn't been as easy as I thought it would be...in fact, I seem to be having some complications and have to go back in next week to figure out what's up. Hence, the reason I have been so MIA lately! I'm so sorry about that!

In the mean time, all the stuff I thought I would be able to get finished, while I was home on recovery...well...yeah...it hasn't been happening. (sigh) Hopefully, I can get back to it soon! But I thought I would at least get a blog post out and connect with all you wonderful people!

One thing I'm having to learn....be patient! When the Lord wants you to take a rest...well...it's best to do so. LOL :-P

Weeeeell let's chat....

What are some qualities a Leader must have? As I thought about this, I narrowed it down to 5 that are extremely important.

  1. Organization

  2. Patience

  3. Forbearance

  4. Love

  5. Vision

This by no means an exhaustive list! There are SOOOO many things that a leader must have! But let's talk about these 5 for today.

ORGANIZATION

This one is quite obvious. If you plan to lead in any way, shape, or form, you MUST be able to organize! Whether it's events, staff, services, games...you must be able to organize and organize well! If this isn't a strong point of yours, find someone that can help you with it. Tell them how you want things to go, and let them jump in and make it happen.

PATIENCE

Dictionary Definition: "The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering, without getting angry or upset."

A must for leaders! Let's face it, no matter which area you work as a leader, there are going to be issues with parents, with children, with equipment, etc. Nothing goes exactly as planned....EVER! LOL. But if you determine BEFORE the issue arises that you are going to show patience and prepare in your mind to have a servant's heart, you will be able to show patience even in the most difficult situation.

FORBEARANCE

Yeah, I had to look that word up! This was a suggestion from my husband...and it's a good one! :D

Merriam-Webster Definition: "A refraining from the enforcement of something that is due; leniency."

In leadership, there will be many times that someone is due something! In other words, someone messes up, and they could be removed from position, given a suggested "break", children not allowed to play a game or attend an event, etc. etc. You get the picture. But in some cases, it is necessary for us to show leniency and give them place to mess up and not be punished. Again, that's not ALWAYS the case, but sometimes we need to be careful to not simply "lower the boom"! Give someone the benefit of the doubt. Don't think you "know" why they did something. Talk it through and learn to try to understand their side of things. Refrain from passing judgement! Think through the situation carefully, and determine if Forbearance is needed.

LOVE

If we want to win souls, and that is our ultimate goal, we MUST show love! Love them through their pain; love them through rejection; love them through their anger...love them as Jesus loves them! Love, Love, Love! That's what it's all about!

Now, there are some that take Love to the extreme and think it means there is NEVER place for judgement. God is a righteous judge! He loves, but He is also fair. So make sure that your Love is seasoned with truth and righteousness. ;-)

VISION

"Where there is no vision, the people perish..." Pro. 29:18.

This is true! If we don't have FORWARD VISION...looking into where we want to be, who we want to become, how we will grow...we might as well lay down and die. Nothing grows by just sitting stagnant. If it's not growing, it's dying!

Don't allow yourself or your ministry to be in a place without vision. Always have something you are working towards. A new goal, a new project, something that will help God's Work grow!

I hope this little blog post will help you in your ministry. :D Ask the Lord which ones you need to focus on right now, then keep them in your mind and move forward for Him...doing His work.

That's all for this week! Hopefully, I can stay on schedule again, but it may be a bit before the next post is up. :-(

Have a wonderful weekend!

P.S. I am sharing a sample with you, of a devotional I am writing. :D This is the one designed for women, and I will change it up for men.

NOTE: This is only 1 week's worth of the "lessons", and also the layout is not the correct size; hence the reason it doesn't fit the page exactly. ;-)
